These words rest heavy on my heart, so here goes. There is no doubt we don’t know for sure the extent of this virus. Whether or not we can stop it, or even slow it down. Look at China, Hong Kong, Italy, and even Seattle, all ghost towns.
I fully understand the flu over the past months was worse than coronavirus to date, I get it. ALTHOUGH, we need to consider the fact we only recently started testing extensively for coronavirus so can we be sure some of the flu death statistics are not coronavirus? Once again, what do I know?
So, here is the deal that concerns me. As a Christian, I have no fear of this virus. My destiny is heaven, the blood of Lamb is my covering, and sickness and disease can’t live in my presence. Last Friday I put my two grandboys, 17 and 14, on a plane headed for Naples, Florida. Was I worried about their welfare? Absolutely! Fearful? No, not at all. Right before they boarded, we prayed and I declared, “Any sickness, disease, plague, or human trafficker coming against you will drop dead in your presence, in the mighty Name of Jesus!” They did look at me a little funny, after all they are teenagers, but is what it is. We laughed afterward that if anyone suddenly died around them, they were a human trafficker, and to turn them in.
Here is my HOWEVER. Fear is like pain, its there for a reason. Pain can be good because it signals something is wrong, out of whack, and it commands attention. Fear is the same way. There is healthy fear, and demon inspired fear, knowing which you are experiencing is essential. God has not given us a spirit of fear, the demonic kind, but of power, (over the enemy or circumstances which come against us), love, and a SOUND mind.
Having a sound mind in the face of danger is essential because it is what will alert you to healthy fear in certain circumstances. Prov. 27:12 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge. The simple-minded keep going and suffer greatly for it.” Definition of prudent is, acting with or showing care and thought for the future.
As Christians we might not be in fear of this virus, or even concerned, but that does not mean your neighbor won’t be. Or that stores won’t empty out of the supplies you need to care for your family, or that travel will be banned, or even that you won’t come in contact with someone with the virus and for safety reasons are guaranteed for weeks as a result.
Fear is gripping the US whether we “believe” it is or not. Get real. Be prepared.
It was said about, concerning one of first preppers in the scripture, Noah, Hebrews 11:7-10 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household.
So – let us run the race ahead of us in the near future with patience, wisdom, and loads of prayer.
